About us
Home started in 2019 as a shared Google Doc between four friends who kept texting each other the same question: "have you actually tried it?" We were tired of reviews written by people who clearly hadn't. So we started writing our own.
Today we're a small team of six writers and two editors. We test products in our own homes — the coffee grinders live on Martha's counter, the garden kits go in Tom's actual backyard, and the routers get stress-tested in Daniel's apartment building where seventeen Wi-Fi networks fight over the same air.
How we make money: we don't take sponsorships, and brands can't pay for placement. When you buy through a link in one of our guides we sometimes earn a small commission from the retailer. It never changes what we recommend — plenty of our top picks earn us nothing at all.
Corrections: we get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix the article and note the change at the bottom. If you spot an error, write to us — the corrections inbox is read by a human, usually within a day or two.
